It’s Halloween and a young Zachary Patton walks into his fifth grade classroom. He’s wearing the new Adidas sneakers his mom just bought him, but this morning he laced them up with black and orange laces. Jaws drop. The crowd goes wild. “Of course now who cares, but in fifth grade, this was a big deal,” says Patton.
It was at this moment that the now 24-year-old founder of Buffalo-based lifestyle brand Cretaceous Clothing realized he had a knack for putting together an impressive outfit.
For the fourth year in a row, Larkinville will hold a free summer concert each Wednesday, starting June 17. The lineup for the series, Live at Larkin presented by First Niagara and sponsored by Independent Health, was announced just moments ago and will include more than 35 bands, as well as plenty of food carts and vendors. Some highlights include the series openers, John & Mary and the Valkyries, as well as The Tins, the Ragbirds, and Dive House Union & Jony James Band (pictured).
Upstate New York has long-been a hotbed for talent across all genres, and the blended nature of jam is no different. From Buffalo to Albany, there are many bands that play in this space and excel at live improvisations and touching on various tones, including one of the region’s best, Funktional Flow. On Saturday, April 25, the band played a CD Release Party at Nietzsche’s. Buffalo.FM captured the vibe.
