“A quick look at the monstrous blast furnaces and huge ore stockpiles of the Hanna Furnace Corp. as you speed south on Furhmann Boulevard is not apt to leave you with a sense of overpowering beauty in a physical sense, but stop and think a minute.
The foot of Ferry Street has been an active fishing and sporting site for generations. This circa 1900 view is looking north from the West Ferry Street Bridge, the Black Rock Harbor on the left, the Erie Canal on the right.
BRENDAN BANNON is a Western New York native who makes his home in Buffalo and Angola, as well as in Nairobi, Kenya from time to time. This is a photograph taken from the shores of Lake Erie.
