On Saturday, October 21, burlesque dancer Ebony Jones of the dance troupe Femme Noire will perform in collaboration with musican Curtis Lovell at Squeaky Wheel’s annual Halloween-themed fundraiser, Peep Show.
[ELECTRONIC] Buffalo-based musician Bud Redding will perform a live ambient solo show at Revolution Gallery on Hertel this Thursday, October 19.
[CLASSICAL] World renowned bassist Victor Wooten will join the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra for a special performance on Saturday, October 21 at 8pm and Sunday, October 22 at 2pm.
[PUNK] Sugar City has a bunch of DIY punk bands lined up for a show this Sunday, October 22. Headlining are Pittsburgh based noise-punk band Choir.
[PUNK] The Manx have something to do with Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim, but this writer can’t quite figure out what, so we’ll just state “the Manx have something to do with Adult Swim,” and leave it at that. But this also means that the Manx are weird.
[INDIE] The Ambulanters come all the way from Lincoln, Nebraska for their show this Friday, October 20 at Milkie’s on Elmwood. They’ll be joined by two great Buffalo-bands too in Passed Out and Bold Folly.
[ROCK] The Front Bottoms’ latest album, Going Grey, is being hailed as a creative gamble for the band. And it’s paying off. Compare the opening track, “Motorcycle” of their previous album Back on Top to Going Grey’s opening track and you’ll get it.
[ROCK] 40 years in and post-punk band the Psychedelic Furs continue to tour regularly despite not having released a studio album since 1991. That was the year the influential band, lead by brothers Richard and Tim Butler went on hiatus not to return for almost a decade.
[EMO] It might be a miracle that the music of the Spill Canvas made it from Sioux Falls, South Dakota to your ears here in Buffalo in the early 2000s, but I guess that was the power of emo music.
[POP PUNK] Pioneering pop punk band Smoking Popes comes to Mohawk Place on Friday, October 20.
