The Front Bottoms
[ROCK] The Front Bottoms’ latest album, Going Grey, is being hailed as a creative gamble for the band. And it’s paying off. Compare the opening track, “Motorcycle” of their previous album Back on Top to Going Grey’s opening track and you’ll get it. Moving so abruptly from quirky indie rock to essentially minimal electronic pop might have alienated some of the band’s fans if not done properly, but the reviews are in and Going Grey has been well received. Their new sound isn’t completely unrecognizable, however—frontman Brian Sella’s vocals still come in from a pop-rock direction and his lyrical content is still playful and catchy. What will be even more interesting is how the band will mix in their new electro-edged material in with their pop punk-based fan favorites. The Front Bottoms come to Buffalo RiverWorks on Sunday, October 22 with support from Basement and Bad Bad Hats.
