Greg Klyma CD Release Party

[AMERICANA] Earlier this summer, Cheektowaga native Greg Klyma swung through Western New York with a trunkful of his latest record, Never Knew Caroline, and played a concert at our house. The record was brand-new off the presses in June, and what a record it is: full of heartbreak, laced with nostalgia, and leavened with humor. It features collaborations with Americana luminaries Gurf Morlix, Peter Case, Bill Kirchen, and Buffalo’s own Jim Whitford, who cowrote one of the album’s 10 tracks. On Saturday, September 23, Klyma and a pickup band comprising Buffalo’s finest roots musicians—Whitford, bassist John Weber, and drummer Rob Lynch among them—will celebrate the new record with a show at Sportsmen’s Tavern. Klyma now resides in Boston, though in truth he seems to live mostly on the road, traveling and performing and honing his craft. And all that travel and work have paid off: Here is a songwriter and performer at the top of his game. It’ll feel like old home night at Sportsmen’s when he and his musician friends take the stage.
