[LECTURE] “The lush and buttery nature of Zak’s paintings seduces me,” Skylar Borgstrom says of fellow artist Sara Zak. “I literally cannot stop staring, analyzing. It is only when I walk away that I realize how haunting the work is without ever being able to identify why. This discussion seeks to examine that tension between beauty and the disturbing.” Talk the Talk is a new lecture series at Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center, in which a regional artist presents and discusses the work of another regional artist. It’s a winning idea, and in the latest installment Bergstrom examines Zak, whose work has been featured frequently in The Public. Borgsrtom’s talk takes place Wednesday, January 17 at Hallwalls.
