[PUNK] The Aussie duo known as Gooch Palms—Leroy Macqueen and Kat Friend—refer to their winning garage-y sound as “shit-pop,” which attests both to the haphazard way they slap their tunes together and a generally carefree attitude that informs the whole project. 2013’s Novos turned heads with punchy tracks that merged a trashy, 1970’s Bowery band feel with little touches of girl group charm. A new single, “Trackside Daze,” on the Urinal Cake label continues in that vein with added Ramones-like energy. The duo visits Buffalo for the first time on Thursday, May 21 at Mohawk Place.
