[INDIE] One of Buffalo’s most consistent and hardworking talents is set to release a new solo EP, Steady Hands, Dead Tired (Admirable Traits Records), and the corresponding show is Friday, December 15 at Mohawk Place. Known for his inventive approach to guitar, Baker’s work in numerous projects — Lazlo Hollyfield in particular — has made him a prolific local figure with numerous irons in the fire. His solo work tends to be his most musically straightforward outlet, presented as an indie-rock quartet. The new EP is preceded by the single “Reluctant Thief,” an ode to failed relationships of all shapes and sizes that vacillates between blame and self-reflection… a portrait of disappointment that packs a wallop with a subtle groove below and jangly riffs up top. Get there early on Friday for hip-hop collective RADARADA plus sets from Passed Out and Hundred Plus Club. $10 gets you into the show with a copy of the new EP.
