The Good Life, Field Mouse, and Jake Bellows
[INDIE] The latest from Omaha’s The Good Life — the side project started by Cursive frontman Tim Kasher — rocks a bit harder than the folk-pop quartet’s previous efforts. The increased edginess permeating parts of Everybody’s Coming Down, out last year on Saddle Creek, might be explained by the Cursive tour that preceded it, reuniting Kasher with his inner youthful screamer via material from albums like Domestica and The Ugly Organ. Still, The Good Life remains a vehicle for Kasher’s mellower side, and Everybody’s Coming Down is a full band effort that showcases his gift for power-in-brevity while also soaking in the musical personalities of his fellow band members. It’s not Cursive for sure, but of The Good Life’s five releases to date, it comes the closest. On Monday, November 14 at Mohawk Place, Kasher and company are joined by Brooklyn-by-Philly dream pop quintet Field Mouse and fellow Saddle Creek artist, Neva Dinova frontman Jake Bellows.
