Obnox with Fatal Figures, Alpha Hopper, and Saturn V

[PUNK] Dreamy indie guitars, driving bass, and bizarre lyrical poetry characterize the music of Obnox. The Cleveland-based band is not your ordinary garage punk act. Mixing in psychedelia, and beat-based stuff too, they really transcend any label—landing somewhere between Childish Gambino, Ty Segall, and Mos Def. Those deep into the garage rock scene might recognize the band’s founder, Lamont “Bim” Thomas, from bands such as This Moment in Black History and Puffy Areolas. Thomas, strumming frantically on his Fender strat, maybe wearing some outrageous wig, often looks as if he leaves his body while delivering effected, strange vocals on the live stage. Obnox comes to Mohawk Place on Thursday, November 9 with support from Fatal Figures, who are celebrating the release of their new full length album, as well as Alpha Hopper and Saturn V
