Talk the Talk: Andrea Mancuso on Cartoonist Adam Zyglis
[LECTURE] The second installment in a new lecture series at Hallwalls Contemporary Art Center called “Talk the Talk“—in which an artist delivers a lecture on the work of another artist—is bound to be a popular one: The subject is Adam Zyglis, the Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist for the Buffalo News; the lecturer is Andrea Mancuso, cofounder of the artist collective virocode and an art instructor at the Nichols School. Mancuso programs exhibits in the hallways at Nichols, inlcuding in the hallway gallery in the school’s Flickinger Performing Arts Center, where Zyglis’s work is on exhibit through November 9. Zyglis has admirably filled the shoes of his predecessor, Tom Toles (also a Pulitzer winner), since 2004; particularly in recent years, he has lent vibrancy and dissent to the News’s often tentative and conservative op-ed page. Those qualities have been rewarded with wide syndication and, of course, journalism’s premier award. The talk on Wednesday, November 8 is free; get there early and bring a few bucks for beer and wine.
