Prom of the Dead

[PARTY] Q: Who can take a sunrise, sprinkle it with dew, cover it with chocolate and a miracle or two? A: The Candy Man, of course—and this Saturday, October 24 you can head right down to the Dnipro Ukrainian Cultural Center and experience this year’s installment of Prom of the Dead where all your candy dreams will come true. What began in 2010 as a dance party for the waking dead has since become an annual costume extravaganza, and this year’s theme pays tribute to your sweet tooth because the theme is Candyland. In addition to decorating the massive hall with technicolor lights, Torn Space Theater has confirmed a stellar crop of local DJs and pop acts to grace the crowd with ear candy, including Marcos Udagawa, Rev. Johnny Drama and Handsome Dan, Dr. Know, Projex, Lesionread, Fashion Expo 1990, Hooked on Casiophonics, Brass Pro, the Waterfront Revivalists, and more. All that’s left to complete the picture is your attendance. A costume contest will be in the works so deck yourself out with gummy worms, candy dots, lollipops, anything that resembles your best interpretation of candy attire. It’s the perfect event for those seeking to channel sickly-sweet appetites in a larger-than-life masquerade. Tickets can be purchased at the door or at Sugar City and Sweetness7.
