First Fridays
[ART] This Friday, September 1, the Allentown Association will present a unique art event as part of their First Friday Gallery Walk series. The event is the 2017 Art Chase, during which registered teams will compete in various challenges in and around Allentown. Challenges include scavenger hunt type activites like performing an impromptu haiku, or reenacting a famous painting.
Also as part of First Friday, Queen City Gallery will host an outdoor exhibit titled Under the Stars featuring art by more than a dozen artists; Indigo Art will open their new exhibit Co Modify, which features work by Mizin Shin and J. Eric Simpson; Freshly Dipped Clothing will feature their exhibit The Still Series with art inspired by Jay-Z’s “The Story of O.J”; and Paint the Town will host an exhibit of local Latino Arts titled Los Artistas Del Barrio: A Latino Arts Experience, among other art gallery openings.
For the 14th time, Squeaky Wheel will host their Animation Festival, this time at the Albright Knox Art Gallery. The event, which will take place on Friday, September 1 as part of M&T First Fridays, is a showcase of animated short films that feature different themes and animation methods. The 49 minute program is curated by Jean Zhu of Squeaky Wheel.
