The Sheila Divine

[ROCK] Acclaimed post-punk outfit, the Sheila Divine, will be playing two shows at the Sportsmen’s Tavern, Friday and Saturday night. Originally formed in the late 1990s by three friends attending SUNY Oneonta, the trio relocated to Cambridge Massachusetts and garnered momentum as alternative college radio sensations through the release of singles such as “Hum” alongside their debut album,  New Parade (Roadrunner Records, 1999). The album was hailed as a showcase of frontman Aaron Perrino’s soaring vocals and exquisitely layered guitars, elements which coalesced into a mood that proved to be the ideal score to the climate of regions as diverse as Belgium, Boston, and last but not least, this rust belt city—three regions which became rife with die-hard Sheila Divine followings. Despite breaking up in the early 2000s, Perinno continued activity with the band through reunion shows and disparate releases. Needless to say, for loyal fans and enthusiasts of alternative rock, this weekend at the Sportsmen Tavern holds in store a special experience. Boston-based indie-rock band Hallelujah the Hills is set to open.
