The Nth Power

[FUNK] If you didn’t catch The Nth Power back in September of this past year at The Tralf, you missed out on a display of some incredible musicianship. The band was on their way to the Catskill Chill music festival at the time and was hitting on all gears.

The Nth Power, a soulful funky super group of sorts, is made up of members who have played in bands like Dumpstaphunk, Lettuce, and John Brown’s Body. The potential this group has on paper is only realized live through a unique energy that is tied together through a love of similar music. For Nikki Glaspie, drummer of the Nth Power, Steely Dan, the S.O.S. Band, Bob Marley, and Chaka Khan are artists that are constantly on repeat while the band is on the road. It may be hard to tell what direction the group tends to go in from that list, but it paints a picture of their eclectic tastes.

The Nth Power comes back to Buffalo to tear up Waiting Room this Saturday, February 28. If there’s one thing to look forward to at the show, it’s the possibility of new material, as Glaspie teased that the band is looking at June 1 as a release date for their first full length album. For any fan of the band, this has been eagerly awaited. Buffalo’s own Intrepid Travelers, who bring an improvisational flow along with their funky rock sound, will perform in support.
