Sweet Escape: Loupe's Local Sweet Treats

by / Jul. 13, 2016 1am EST

Who can resist a sweet treat? Certainly not us. But why waste calories on unsatisfying candy bars and mass produced baked goods when you can have something that’s handmade by a local artisan? Check out some of our favorite sweet escapes below.

 BreadHive
402 Connecticut St, Buffalo, breadhive.com

A cooperative bakery located on Buffalo’s West Side, BreadHive is well known for its artisanal breads, bagels, and pretzels, but its cookies and muffins are equally delicious! We love the chocolate rye best of all.

 Fairycakes Cupcakery
289 Parkside Ave, Buffalo, fairycakesbuffalo.com

Sit and enjoy or take out cupcakes and other treats, like pies and cookies, at this family friendly shop located across the street from the zoo. Fairycakes features vegan options, too. Download Loupe to score a free cupcake or cookie here.

 Public Espresso + Coffee
391 Washington St, Buffalo, publicespresso.com

Public’s coffee program is pretty fantastic, but we’re equally addicted to its dessert case. Stocked with fresh pastries from Butter Block, it’s hard to choose between flaky pain au chocolat, handmade pop tarts sporting nifty seasonal flavors, and cookies sprinkled with just enough sea salt to make your mouth water. Use Loupe here for a free pour over, the perfect foil to your sweet treat.
