GreenWatch Breaking News: Riverkeeper asks COB to deny permit to Outer Harbor building project

by / Jun. 16, 2016 10pm EST

Buffalo Niagara Riverkeeper has sent a letter to the Buffalo Common Council asking that the City deny a special use permit for the Queen City Landing LLC project at the former Frreezer Queen site on the Outer Harbor.

We will publish more details about this development and the circumstances and oddities that make-up the proposed development this Sunday.  Riverkeeper’s letter, authored by noted environmental attorney and Riverkeeper Board member Richard Lippes, focuses on what the organization is calling a faulty SEQRA (New York State Environmental Quality Review Act) application and determination by the Buffalo Planning Board that the project would have “no impacts” on the enviroment. The Buffalo Planning Board issued a Negative Declaration on the project in May. The City must now approve a special “restricted use” permit if the project is to move foward. The full Common Council is expected to take up the issue next Tuesday (21 June) at its regular meeting.

More on this story coming this Sunday, at The Public
