Southside Slow Roll
Happy Memorial Day! Todays Sunday Morning Television is a compilation of Facebook Live videos shot and broadcast on my and others cell phones last week during the Buffalo/Southside Slow Roll.
This writer was honored to be asked by Seamus Gallivan, one of the organizers of Slow Roll Buffalo, to speak at a rest stop as the Slow Rollers passed through a portion of South Buffalo on their way to the Outer Harbor last Monday, April 22, 2017. I was asked to talk about Buffalo’s Outer Harbor as a representative of the Our Outer Harbor Coaltion. The Our Outer Harbor Coalition is an organization designed to promote public access and public engagement around decisionmaking on this most important regional asset. I welcomed people to South Buffalo (where I live) and spoke about the proposal that Tifft Street become a complete street, as a gateway to the Outer Harbor for both bikes and pedestrians. Legislation was introduced by Erie County Legislator Pat Burke last week to ask the City to repair the Tifft Street Bridge and add pedestrian and bike lanes.
This video includes the Slow Roll passing by and a brief interview with Seamus about the event.
Slow Roll Buffalo is “a social group bicycle ride” that meets every Monday this summer with a variety of tour routes. Tomorrow night, Monday May 29, will start and end at the Buffalo & Erie County Naval and Military Park, with a post ride afterpart on the deck of the USS Little Rock.
