Buffalo’s Bhutanese-Nepali community will hold a fundraiser this weekend, gathering money to send back to their home country, which was rocked by two earthquakes in recent weeks. The death toll stands at more than 8,400 people.
This Sunday leaders from the community are inviting people to join them at Buffalo State College’s Campbell Student Union from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. where they will hold a candle light vigil and offer traditional Nepali food, music and dance, guided meditation and a presentation on the growing Bhutanese-Nepali community and culture in the Queen City.
There is no admission fee but organizers are asking for a suggested donation of $10. All proceeds will go toward relief work in Nepal.
