A short 8mm film shot in Buffalo ten years ago has surfaced onto the internet this week. Death on the Subway was created by then UB student and Oswego-native Greg Glod and shelved all these years but resurrected thanks to Chicago artist and musician Eric Unger, who provides a moving soundtrack.
On one hand, it carries some of the hallmarks of student work—it feels aimless and unncessarily dramatic—but on the other hand that could be what makes it effective. Artists often make their best work when concepts are uncooked and minimalist. At any rate, it’s worth four minutes of anyone’s time.
