[COMEDY] Comedian Demetri Martin is the king of the unexpected punchline. Sometimes all he really gives his audience is the punchline. “Pets are animals that are not delicious,” he blurts out during his Netflix stand up special Demetri Martin: Live (At the Time). “I have an L shaped sofa. Lowercase,” he says, before going on to a seven second bit on soap scum. The comedian, who has appeared on the Daily Show isn’t all just rapid one liners, though. He also sings hilarious songs while playing guitar, and he’s acted in cult favorite comedy shows like Flight of the Concords and indie flicks like Taking Woodstock. Though he looks like a 20-something hipster in an ugly sweater, the 44-year-old New York City comedian has been honing his style since coming into comedy in the late 1990s. Catch Demetri Martin live at the UB Center for the Arts this Saturday, October 7.
