Resist: Poetry Reading

[POEMS] Heeding the famous directive of Walt Whitman of how one should mind their affairs with the State, a nascent literary magazine with a national edge will be feted in a local reading on Friday in the newly expanded Second Reader book store on Hertel Avenue. Lead by the renegade poet Kent Johnson and including Michael Boughn and seven local writers, the Resist Much, Obey Little will offer something of a guidepost to writers and artists going forward. Themes of social justice and and criticisms of state war departments are nothing new for many of these poets, however fresh the reappearance of the demons from the past may seem. The 738-page volume of resistance work edited by Johnson and Boughn features some of the most prominent voices in American letters, and with hundreds of contributors, one of the most representative.
