[INDIE] After years of touring and appearances on brand name festivals like Lollapalooza, SXSW, and All Tomorrow’s Parties, the shock value of this Canadian band’s name, Holy Fuck, might have worn off. But their electronic post-rock stylings are as sharp as ever. They’re not the most prolific band—they’ve only released four LPs and a few EPs and splits in their 12 years as a band—but that’s understandable when faced with the complexity of their music, which combines dance-punk beats, droning guitars, and pulsating synthesizers (see “Latin America” from their 2010 record Latin). Their latest record, Congrats, is arguably more psychedelic and hypnotic than their previous records—more Tyondai Braxton than !!. If history is any indication, their live show will trump any recording, by leaps and bounds, anyways. The four-piece band comes to the Waiting Room on Saturday, July 23 with support from Buffalo pop-rock band Humble Braggers, and experimental pop band Lesionread.
