Spotlyte Vol. 2 featuring B. Dolan
[HIP HOP] From slam poet to hip hop activist, B Dolan has no problem with confrontation. White privilege, the media, the police, mega-corporations, and class structures in America are some of his favorite targets and when the Providence, Rhode Island-based artist raps about these subjects, one can hear the passion in his voice. On his 2011 track “Film the Police”—a tribute to N.W.A’s classic “Fuck the Police”—Dolan succinctly touches on many of these themes. “Film the Police. Run a tape for the underclass!” he raps on the song, which features like-minded and frequent collaborator Sage Francis, who has also released Dolan’s records on his label, Strange Famous. Dolan’s latest record, 2015’s Kill The Wolf, perhaps his fiercest and most urgent sounding record so far, features collaborations with Aseop Rock and Buck 65 among others. On Friday, April 29 Dolan will bring his Kill The Wolf tour to Buffalo for a special stop at Milkie’s as part of Spotlyte Vol. 2, presented by Graziano Entertainment and Jacebeats. Mad Dukez and Tre Ocho Guevara will perform in support alongside DJ Trappy Gilmore.
