[INDIE] Dr. Dog have come full circle. In January, the psychedelic indie rock band from outside of Philly released their ninth full-length record in 15 years, a 39-minute long phantasmagoric ride called The Psychedelic Swamp. Except the record was actually written in 2001, predating any of the band’s official releases. What the five-piece band has actually done is dug up some of their original demos and reimagined them, or filtered through the lens of what Dr. Dog has become since bassist Toby Leaman and guitarist Scott McMicken wrote the songs in the band’s earliest days. The band, recognizing the strength of their live performances, released a live recorded titled Live at a Flamingo Hotel last January. Fans will see how The Psychedelic Swamp stacks up to the band’s classic records like Fate and Shame, Shame, when Dr. Dog comes to the Town Ballroom on Wednesday, March 9.
