World Intellectual Property Day Celebration
[CELEBRATION] If you’re an artist or a music producer, you should know what IP means. It means intellectual property, and it refers to anything created using the mind—music, art, writings, or designs.
One of the more famous and recent cases of intellectual property theft occurred as a result of the filming of the movie The Hangover 2. You know when Ed Helms’ character gets that unsightly, yet very recognizeable facial tattoo? You know, the one that looks exactly like a certain famous ex-boxer’s famous facial tattoo? Well, the artist who created that tattoo for boxer Mike Tyson sued the Warner Brothers Entertainment, and after a secret meeting, Warner Brothers agreed to a settlement with the artist. This artist knew something about intellectual property rights and he benefited from it.
Believe it or not, but Thursday, April 23 happens to be World Intellectual Property Day. This is a real thing folks, and there is only one place to celebrate World Intellectual Property Day in Buffalo and that’s at Handlebar. Not only will this be an opportunity to celebrate the concept of Intellectual Property itself, but you might learn a little bit about how to protect your own IP. Expect drink specials, hors d’oeuvres, and door prizes. World Intellectual Property Day Cerebral Celebration is presented by Del Vecchio and Stadler LLP.
