[INDIE] Friends from up north in Ontario invade Town Ballroom for New Years Eve eve, Saturday, December 30. Headliner Sam Roberts Band is on tour supporting last year’s TerraForm, which was co-produced by Graham Walsh of the band Holy Fuck. The resulting concept album is a departure from the percussive, jazzy experimentation of their last two releases. Instead, TerraForm is layered with surprising neo-psychedelic twists that speak to a narrative about finding renewal in the various corners of our own individual lives and, collectively, in the big picture. It’s a creative watershed for the quintet, who’ve amassed 14 Juno Award nominations and seven wins since 2002, making them a bona fide big deal in Canada that’s still working hard on building an audience down here. Relative newcomers (and fellow Canadians) Kasador will open, highlighting tunes from their celebrated self-titled EP and likely premiering some new material from a debut full-length in the works.
