The Ithaca-based rapper, known for her anthemic hooks and playful rhymes, covers topics from nerd culture to the politics of black womanhood, is lately reaching a new intimacy. With her recent single, “1080p”—a clever nod to her status as a PhD student in science and technology at Cornell University—she explores the common yet emotional feelings that accompany heartbreak. Nearing the end of her Weekend Warrior Princess Tour, and with her recently released debut LP Pieces in Space gaining momentum, she’s definitely “thinkin’ of a master plan.” Supporting acts include Hop Hop, Anthony and the Mountain, and We Stole the Show.
