[ROCK] The Dirty Heads make what some call alternative rock, but is really closer these days to straight up pop-reggae music. Theres also a kind of jam band kind of aspect to it, there’s a hip hop thing going on, and there’s a humorous aspect to it too—as evidenced by the band’s ridiculous video for “Vacation” featuring Principal Belding from Saved by The Bell. I guess you could say their spiritual ancestors are bands like Sublime and Slightly Stoopid, but they do have their own signature sound, which comes across strong on their latest album, this year’s Swim Team. There’s a lot going on, which makes their live show kind of unpredictable; really the only thing that is predictable is that the crowd is going to have a great time. Check them out this Sunday, November 12 at the Rapids Theatre.
