[CLASSICAL] Named one of the 100 Greatest Drummers of All Time by Rolling Stone, Stewart Copeland is best known for his work with the Sting-helmed rock band The Police. In fact, not only did Copeland make the top 100, he came in at number 10. “It may be Sting’s melodies that have become ubiquitous, but the Police sounds the way they do because of Stewart Copeland’s use of space, subtlety and aggression,” said the writer of the article. Though The Police have been inactive for years, Copeland has been quite active, touring the country playing concerts with some of America’s finest orchestras as they perform his drum concerto titled The Tyrant’s Crush. Naturally, this has led him to Buffalo. He’ll perform Tyrant’s Crush as well as pieces by Dmitri Shostakovich and Frank LIszt along with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra for two shows, Friday, October 28 at 10:30am and Saturday, October 29 at 8pm.
