[HAPPY HOUR] Investigative Post and Community Beer Works kick off their new monthly social with a happy hour tonight, Tuesday, October 16, at the CBW’s new brew pub on Seventh Street. And your first beer is frre. (Thus the name of Investigative Post’s new membership drive, to be unveiled at the event: “Free Beer and a Free Press—What a Concept.”) Our partners at Investigative Post are a nonprofit investigative journalism center that does the kind of reporting The Public exists to publish: deeply contextual, policy-based, and independent. Investigative Post’s founder and editor, Jim Heaney, will be on hand to talk about Investigative Post’s mission and work thus far, along with his reporting staff: Charlotte Keith, Marsha McLeod, and Sara Jerving, all of whom have recently contributed pieces to this newspaper. The event is free and open to the public.
