The Dear Hunter
[ROCK] Ten years ago, Casey Crescenzo was frontman of the Receiving End of Sirens, a band that was at the time rising in popularity. It seemed like a strange move at the time, but Crescenzo parted ways with the band to pursue a new direction for his music. After leaving, his vision for his new band, The Dear Hunter, quickly came into focus. Following the trend that Coheed and Cambria sparked in the early 2000s, The Dear Hunter became a concept band, releasing a series of what are essentially sonic comic books—the first of which, Act I: The Lake South, The River North, was released in 2006. He continued with two more albums in the story arc before seemingly abandoning the idea in 2011 with the release with two unrelated albums, The Color Spectrum, and Migrant. But in 2015 he returned with Act IV: Rebirth in Reprise and this year the band released Act V: Hymns with the Devil in Confessional, which were not only deemed a return to form, but as perhaps the best records in the series. Dubbed The Final Act Tour, the Dear Hunter will bring their tour to the Waiting Room on Sunday, September 25 with support from Eisley and Gavin Castleton.
