[CLASSICAL] The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra opens its pops season this Saturday, September 23 with a real treat: the music of Disney’s Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 performed live while the grounbreaking animations are presented on screen, with commentary by principal pops conductor John Morris Russell. The music of the 1940 original—Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D Minor, Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite, Dukas’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Beethoven’s Pastoral, and more—are reason enough to get yourself to Kleinhans Music Hall this weekend.
