The Get Up Kids
[EMO] Formed in 1995 in Kansas City, Missouri, The Get Up Kids are pioneers of emo music. The band, headed by Matt Pryor, has been cited by bands like Blink 182, Fall Out Boy, and The Early November as a creative influence. Fellow Get Up Kids member James Dewees has gone on to collaborate and tour with many of the band’s who his band has influenced, including New Found Glory, My Chemical Romance and others. Both Dewees and Pryor also formed the pop punk band Reggie and the Full Effect, and have each toured as solo acts as well, specifically during the time between 2004 and 2008 when the band went on hiatus. The band reformed in 2008 and have since released one record, 2011’s There Are Rules. The Get Up Kids come to the Town Ballroom on Tuesday, September 19 with support from Pet Symmetry.
