Edgefest

[ROCK] This Saturday, September 12 Edgefest, presented by 103.3 the Edge, will rock the Buffalo Outer Harbor. The annual music festival features headlining performances by Rise Against, Modest Mouse, and Coheed and Cambria. Rise Against started out as a politically charged punk rock outfit in 2000, and have developed into a still-politically charged, melodic hardcore powerhouse. Modest Mouse’s latest release, Strangers to Ourselves is their first in eight years, and it thrums with vitality and restlessness. The band—led by Isaac Brock—experiment with fresh sounds, but their unique and brilliant arrangements are bound by familiar riffs of albums past. Coupled with flawless execution, it solidifies Modest Mouse’s superiority in the indie rock world. Emo favorites Coheed and Cambria are guaranteed to pack a punch with their fierce driving rock. The dystopic, storytelling outfit’s latest single, “You Got Spirit Kid” is an uplifting progressive rock jam paved with infectious guitar riffs and melodious drumming. Four-time Juno Award-winning, Canadian outfit, Our Lady Peace will also bring their accessible pop-rock grooves. Fellow Canadaians, the glitzy garage/alt-rock duo, July Talk will be in attendance, as will the Sheepdogswielding their melodic bass lines, classic rock harmonies, and unabashedly psychedelic guitar solos. Buffalo garage rock heroes, Made Violent open, along with the muscular rock outfit, Highly Suspect, and folk outfit, BOOTS.
