[ELECTRONIC/DANCE] This year has been a big one for J. Phlip, the San Francisco-based DJ and producer. But she’ll be the first to point out that this year has been huge despite the fact that she has released relatively few records, with the exception of her three track EP collaboration with Huxley titled What You Want. Instead, she’s focused on her DJ performances, which have included appearances at a slew of festivals including Detroit’s Movement Festival and Las Vegas’ Electric Daisy Carnival. It’s hard to pinpoint her style, but her full-bodied mixes slam dubby techno together with ravey beats and downtempo breakdowns. She’ll take the decks at Sky Bar on Friday, August 19 for a rooftop set that continues the bar’s summer DJ series, which has included fellow dirtybird records artists like Justin Martin, Worthy, and Ardalan and Sacha Robotti. Local support comes from John Patrick.
