Jethro Tull performed by Ian Anderson

[ROCK] Is there a difference between Jethro Tull and Ian Anderson? As the frontman, writer, flutist and all-around architect of the band from 1968 until it wound down a decade ago, Anderson is certainly its sine qua non. But his definition of the music of Tull includes the participation of (by his count) 32 different musicians over those four decades, all contributing to a greater whole, a body of work that is how he defines “Jethro Tull.” Still, if Tull was what you grew up on, there’s no reason not to head to Artpark on Tuesday, August 22 for “Jethro Tull performed by Ian Anderson,” a full evening’s tour through one of the most ambitious catalogues in prog rock history. If you only know the classic rock staples “Aqualung” and “Locomotive Breath,” be prepared for a show that covers every musical palette that has engaged Anderson’s interest over the last half century, with the possible exception of the synthesizer years. Anderson and band will play two full sets, so don’t be late: they start at 6:30pm.
