[INDIE] Sandwiched somewhere between alt-country and indie-pop, Rayland Baxter’s second album Imaginary Man (ATO, 2015) garnered positive attention from NPR and the New York Times, praising his ability to write powerhouse songs that deliver memorable characters and brain-branding hooks. Opening for Grace Potter, Kacey Musgraves, The Head and the Heart, Shakey Graves, Boz Scaggs and Tedeschi Trucks Band over the last few years has raised his profile significantly, but Baxter returns to Buffalo on his own this week, playing the Town Ballroom’s Leopard Lounge on Friday night with Rochester harpist extraordinaire Mikaela Davis in the opening slot.
