[INDIE] Halifax’s Nap Eyes gets truer to its name on Thought Rock Fish Scale, which dropped in February on the Paradise of Bachelors label. While the quartet’s debut, Whine of the Mystic, offered more energetic jams, the new set strikes a more congruent match to front man Nigel Chapman’s idiosyncratic observations about alienation and the value of solitude. It’s a sleepy slacker vibe, but Chapman’s Lou Reed-like croon oozes enough charisma to keep those heavy lids from closing. They’ll play material from both albums at Sugar City with Brooklyn folkies Big Thief, touring their buzzed-about debut Masterpiece on Saddle Creek. Doors are at 7pm this Friday, July 15.
