Cages with the Buffalo Gamelan Club

[EXPERIMENTAL] Buffalo experimental noise duo Cages, Nola Ranallo and David Bailey are regarded by on their ability to collaborate. In the past, they’ve combined forces with the Buffalo metal group Gas Chamber to exceptional results. Their next collaboration will feature Buffalo Gamelan Club leader Matt Dunning and his colleagues for a special performance inside the Unitarian Universalist Church on Elmwood Avenue on Saturday, July 16. In conjunction with the Buffalo Gamelan Club, Cages will present a new piece of music that they say “will draw from the sonority of the gamelan instruments interacting with the human voice and electronics.” Musician Ravi Padmanabha will open the evening with a solo Sarangi (Indian stringed-instrument) performance, for which the church will provide “the ideal solemnity for the emotive qualities of the instrument,” according to a press release. Doors open at 7pm, performances begin at 7:30pm.
