[INDIE] Gaslight Anthem front man Brian Fallon steps out on his own this year with Painkillers, his first true solo album, produced by Butch Walker and released on Island Records in March. The disc was recorded mostly in a quartet format (Fallon, Walker, Catherine Popper on bass and Mark Stepro on drums) after Gaslight Anthem announced a hiatus in 2015. Thus far it’s been heralded as soulful and refreshing, sustaining the energy that originally brought the Anthem to prominence and securing Fallon’s spot in the current canon of rock’s most worthwhile songwriters—perhaps he doesn’t need a full time band after all. He’s at Town Ballroom with opener Chris Farren on Saturday, June 25.
