For a second year, the Day’s Park Block Club and Elmwood Village Charter School will host a chicken barbecue to raise money for the rejuvenation and maintenance of Day’s Park, an Olmsted-designed jewel at the west end of Allen Street.

The park is more than just the front lawn for its neighborhood: It’s a play space for school kids, a respite for passersby, a frequent venue for Infringement Festival performers. It belongs to the whole city, and it requires some upkeep.

Meals (including vegetarian options) can be picked up to go or enjoyed in the park. Tables and chairs, beverages and desserts, and activities for kids will be available. In the event of rain, all activity will be moved inside Elmwood Village Charter School. 

Proceeds will be turned over to the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy and earmarked for tree-trimming, grass-planting, and flower gardens in Day’s Park.
