[ART] As with all First Fridays, please do check our full listing of openings and ongoing exhibitions. But allow us, for the sake of timing, to highlight the show at Sugar City. There may be no other figure in Buffalo who has done more in the last 15 years or so to support, advocate, and promote local artists more than Gerald R. Mead. His apartment, from what we’ve heard, is mostly a warehouse for art he’s collected over a few decades for the purpose of doing multiple shows a year, like the one this Friday at Sugar City with work by 26 artists chosen and curated by Dana Tyrrell. A cross-section of great work with a focus on LGBTQIA-identifying folks and their rich contributions to our cultural life and community in Western New York.
