[HIP HOP] It’s not every day that a true innovator and hip hop pioneer comes to town. Rakim is just such a figure. As part of the classic hip hop duo Eric B. & Rakim, the now 48-year-old rapper blazed a hip hop trail with albums like 1987’s Paid in Full and 1988’s Follow the Leader. The 1992 crime-noir film, Juice—staring Omar Epps and Tupac Shakur—has become a cult classic in part due to Eric B. & Rakim’s iconic theme, “Juice (Know the Ledge).” After his split from Eric B. in the late 1990s, Rakim released a smattering of solo material, including 1999’s The Master, which solidified his status as a master lyricist. For this tour, however, the famed MC will return to his roots to perform Eric B. & Rakim’s Paid in Full in it’s entirety on Friday, May 27 at the Town Ballroom. This is a must-see for any music fan.
