[PUNK] Perhaps it’s the addition of a dedicated sax player that makes Providence, Rhode Island’s Downtown Boys sound so authentically first-generation punk, something that’s plenty alive and well on the new album Full Communism (Don Giovanni Records). Or maybe it’s the multitude of one-and two-minute political rants that race by before collapsing in an exhausted heap, only to get up and do it again just seconds later. All six members help create an impressive racket, but it’s frontwoman Victoria Ruiz’s ferocious onstage assault that you won’t be able to look away from.
