Forefront: Women's Art Pop-up Exhibition
[ART] This weekend, a pop-up exhibition featuring the work of women artists spanning three centuries will be installed inside the former home of watercolorist Margaret Martin at 78 Summer Street. Curated by a trio of curators in a collective called Resource: Art—Anna Kaplan, Elisabeth Samuels, and Emily Tucker—the show will feature the historical work of Claire Shuttleworth and Virginia Cuthbert, and the work well established contemporary artists such as Ani Hoover and Dorothy Fitzgerald alongside pieces by emerging artists like Tricia Butski and Julia Douglas. And during the cocktail reception on Thursday, Fotini Galanes will be painting on a wall of the home. Tickets are $65 ($100 for a couple), but each one is a raffle for an artwork from the show and a portion of the proceeds will benefit arts programming at YWCA of WNY. A Sunday brunch is also being held at the home for $12.
