[DUBSTEP] CANCELLED DUE TO ARTIST MEDICAL EMERGENCY. It’s been a few years since Denver by way of U.K. dubstep master Rusko came through Buffalo. The 32-year-old DJ and producer is widely known for helping to popularize dubstep in the underground with his 2007 Fabriclive mix with then production partner Caspa. Though Rusko is hailed by some and razzed by others for more recently ushering in the era of brostep, his sets now consist of classic, old school (if you can call it that) dubstep and new productions. In a recent interview with Your EDM, Rusko sounded off on the current state of the genre, saying “It’s basically just trap and riddim now and it’s increased from 140 to 150 bpm. It’s essentially the same ingredients but it’s getting further away from its origins and evolving like all genres really. The good thing for me is, my sets are full of either old school classics or new stuff by myself and the few producers still rocking the original style.” In addition to his studio albums, which include 2010’s O.M.G!, and 2012’s Songs, the British artist is a pretty prolific remixer, taking on everyone from Katy Perry and Lady Gaga to Basement Jaxx and Pegboard Nerds. Rusko returns to the Town Ballroom on Saturday, April 29, presented by MNM Presents.
