[POP] A native of Foxboro, Massachusetts, Jojo got noticed when she was 13 after years of performing in children’s singing competitions, hitting it big pretty much right off the bat: her debut single “Leave (Get Out)” topped Billboard’s Pop Songs chart and was certified gold, while the self-titled album that included the song went on to sell over four million copies. After a lull in music releases (and a lawsuit against her first label, Blackground) she returned last summer with Mad Love, led by the singles “F.A.B.” which stands for “fake ass bitches,” and “Fuck Apologies,” featuring Wiz Khalifa. Clearly, at 27, Jojo is attempting to re-brand herself as an adult performer with an f-bomb dropping, fake-bitch-hating tough girl sentiment. Lucky for her, it fits perfectly with what’s happening in pop music at this time. Yay, Jojo, who brings her Mad Love Tour to Town Ballroom for an all ages show on Sunday, April 23, with STANAJ.
