[TRIBUTE] If there is a band that deserves tribute, it’s Joy Division. A band that spawned a million wannabes, their trajectory was halted after the suicide of iconic frontman Ian Curtis. Nonetheless, their two records 1979’s Unknown Pleasures and 1980s Closer have become touchstones for a variety of scenes from post-punk to industrial, pop, and indie rock. On Saturday, April 16, Buffalo-based bands Cowboys of Scotland, Gentleman’s Quarrel, The Mobile Hotspots, Her Confession, and Charlie Engleka will come together for a tribute to Joy Division at Milkie’s on Elmwood, sponsored by Allentown Music. DJ Pixie will also be on hand to spin some of your favorite Joy Division tunes. Proceeds go to support Music is Art.
