[INDIE] If Pentimento reminds of something you can’t quite discern, you’re probably thinking of early aughties radio when similar bands were king. Now we’re in revival mode, bringing back the emo/punk-pop aesthetic for a new run (and the word ‘pentimento’ refers to visible traces of an earlier painting below the one on top). There’s no shortage of love for this local quintet whose biggest strength lies in the forthright honesty of its songs—check out “Stuck Forever” from the 2015 full-length I, No Longer to see what we mean. Pentimento comes home for a pair of shows Friday and Saturday with The Traditional and Well Kept Things at Town Ballroom’s Leopard Lounge—Friday is already sold out.
